Police briefly cordoned off a Chelmsford car park after a person was spotted on the roof.
A spokesperson for Essex Police said: "Police are in attendance in Springfield Road, Chelmsford, following concerns for a girl’s safety at around 10.50am today (Thursday, November 16).
"Officers are at the scene and are talking to the girl. We have closed nearby roads to traffic and pedestrians."
Officers spoke to the girl, who was on the roof of a car park, and closed nearby roads to traffic and pedestrians.
The girl, aged 16, was later left in the care of medical professionals.
The car park at Meadows Retail, Wharf road is closed due to the ongoing incident.
The car park reopened at 1pm.
