Actress and presenter, Denise Van Outen will be switching on Chelmsford’s Christmas lights this year.

Denise will push the button, lighting up Chelmsford and setting off a spectacular fireworks display.

Radio presenters Martin and Su from Heart Radio will host the event from 2pm on November 26.

There will be entertainment throughout the high street from Heart Radio, street entertainment and festive food and drink.

A showcase of local and professional talent, including a performance by Jordan Marsh with his ‘Mini’ Big Band and the Big Sing community choir will take place on stage outside Shire Hall.

Spark! Drummers, a street theatre show performed by seven characters will wow crowds from 4pm.
The grand finale at 4.45pm will then see Denise, alongside Martin and Su, switch on Chelmsford’s Christmas lights and launch a spectacular firework display near the Meadows Shopping Centre.

Cabinet Member for corporate services, councillor Nicolette Chambers, said “This year’s Christmas lights will include a large-scale net-like illumination instead of multiple strip sections of lighting, which has been used in previous years.

“The lights will create a large modern and contemporary ceiling of white lights which are set to be spaced out along the High Street.”
