A Chelmsford pub, which operates out of a Grade II listed building, is set to reopen following its closure six weeks ago.

Heineken-owned Star Pubs & Bars and new licensees Ross Saunders and May Davies are beginning work this week on a £350,000 refurbishment to reopen The Two Brewers on Springfield Road.

Work inside the pub will restore the old drinking establishment to it former glory, while transforming the little used function room into a space for theatre and stand up comedy nights.

The building, which dates back to the 16th Century, will also be renovated.
Ross Saunders said: “It’s just what we were looking for.

“We want to use my cooking skills and May’s theatre experience to give The Two Brewers a new lease of life and Chelmsford a great traditional pub in the heart of the town once again.”

The Two Brewers is scheduled to open its doors in early December, with 12 new jobs being created.
