A new police dog has proven his sniffing skills and been hailed a "success" in his first month on the job.

Along with handler Pc Amanda Pollard, Pablo has completed eight searches across the county in a collection of vehicles, gardens and houses.

He has already been to Chelmsford, Harlow, Basildon, Wickford, Canvey Island and Loughton.

During a search of a vehicle in Loughton, Pablo found two wraps of cocaine. A 19 year old man from Ongar was arrested and received a caution for possession of Class A drugs.

Pc Pollard and PD Pablo used the skills they learnt from their recent training courses and Amanda’s experience across 11 years to conduct the searches

Pc Pollard said: “Pablo is doing really well. He has eagerly taken to the role and is a great addition to our dog section.”

Inspector Brad Dickel of the Dog Section said: “Pablo and Amanda have had a flying start and I have no doubt this will continue.

"Pablo has already experienced attending varied incidents and will continue to do so, supporting the force where they’re needed."
