A COMMUNITY gallery has been launched in a town’s library.
The South Woodham Ferrers Community Gallery is running for the second year with 23 submissions from local artists.
The gallery, which was organised by Chelmsford City Council, was officially opened by the mayor of Chelmsford Patricia Hughes.
A spokesman said: “The judges felt there were several artists who deserved special recognition for perfectly capturing different aspects of South Woodham Ferrers.
“Awards were given in two categories. In photography, John Morley was selected as winner and Jo Collins as runner-up. You can see their pieces at the gallery, alongside those of artwork winner Mia Henderson and runner-up Deeks Jayakumar.
“The gallery is now open for the whole community to enjoy and the council welcomes you to view the fantastic works of art on display.
“Chelmsford City Council would like to thank all those who took the time and effort to submit entries and also local company Frames First for sponsoring the gallery and helping to make this project a possibility.”
