A YOUNG girl with a serious life-long illness “smiled to the moon” after finally meeting her idol, Olly Murs, thanks to the work of a worthy cause.

Amelia King, 12, of Springfield, Chelmsford suffers from a complex form of diabetes, meaning she is insulin resilient, and having to take regular medication alongside frequent hospital trips.

Amelia was granted a wish by children’s charity Ray of Sunshine, where she travelled to London with mother Karen to meet the X-Factor star, in an event organised by the charity and fundraising partner Outfit.

After the event, held on Thursday (December 3), Karen said: “The day was a dream come true.

“It was an amazing experience for Amelia to meet Olly Murs. He is such a lovely man and got plenty of time to speak to the children.

“She loved her whole experience in London and feels totally spoilt.  I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff at Rays of Sunshine and to Outfit for making the day extra special.

“A special thank you to the man himself, Olly Murs, for making Amelia smile to the moon.”

During the event, Olly spent some time chatting to children, before posing for photos.

When it was Amelia’s turn to ask the famous singer a question, she asked: “What is your favourite ever song from all of your albums?” to which Olly revealed “to dance and perform to his favourite is Dance with Me Tonight.”

Amelia wish was made possible thanks to Rays of Sunshine’s fundraising partners Outfit.

This partnership will see the fashion chain grant a series of VIP makeover and shopping wishes for seriously ill children across the UK, as well as fundraise to help grant magical wishes.

Outfit are also supporting Rays of Sunshine’s #BeMoreSanta campaign.

You can #BeMoreSanta by purchasing your very own Santa hat or Christmas Cards in-store throughout December.
