A free recruitment event is kicking off a campaign to help job seekers find new careers in the care sector.

Essex County Council is launching the Gift of Care campaign to help the sector recruit and train more local people into roles in their communities.

People starting their careers, looking to change or looking for additional or part-time work are invited to attend the session in Chelmsford on Tuesday, November 29. It takes place at the Council Chamber, at the Civic Centre, in Duke Street, from 12pm to 12.30pm.

More events will be held in the New Year.

Councillor Kevin Bentley, Essex County Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Economic Growth, said: “Our elderly population is growing so the demand for caring people to work in this sector is only going to increase. If you could help and support others or you already have experience of caring, at home or professionally, please consider giving the gift of care this Christmas.”

More than 25 care providers will be represented at the events to talk to job seekers about their current vacancies.

Some 450 job vacancies are advertised in the sector each month in Essex.
