THE Chelmsford Army Reserve Centre hosted a presentation evening to recognise and reward the adult volunteers and cadets of Essex Army Cadet Force.

The evening started with a short display of music from the Cadet Corps of Drums including their ever-popular illuminated drum sticks.

The Lord Lieutenant of Essex, Lord Petre presented his two newest Lord Lieutenant Cadets with their badges, the appointment is in recognition of exceptional achievement by the cadets, who hold the position for a year and accompany the Lord Lieutenant on official duties as appropriate.

Awards for outstanding contributions to First Aid, Sport, Music, Btec and Duke of Edinburgh were presented by civic dignitaries from across the county to those cadets and adults who have gone the extra mile to support, or take part in their chosen activity.

The Army Cadet Force is a uniformed youth organisation whose activities build confidence, teamwork and leadership in young people through military and adventurous activities.

It is also a licensed organisation for the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme and the presentation evening concluded with the presentation of three Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards being presented.
