A MOULSHAM High School student has been awarded a prestigious scholarship, as part of a scheme launched by a national charity.

Miranda Nash received the award, which will fund her textbooks during her first year at Birmingham University, where she is studying English, after achieving excellent A-level results.

The scholarship - which is for high-achieving students from lower-income households - was organised by the Reading List Foundation, a new charity that is looking to bridge the gap between older graduates who did not have to pay tuition fees and younger students facing massive financial challenges.

The scholarships are funded by individuals and businesses, and one of Miranda's donors was an ex-pupil of Moulsham High.
