TRAINS on the Greater Anglia line are running at reduced speeds today due to high temperatures.
The rail operator has warned passengers to expect disruption to journeys until 9pm.
A Greater Anglia spokesman said: "This speed restriction is to protect the overhead wire equipment from damage, caused by excessive expansion of the copper wires and some of the metal components within the structures."
Trains on both the Southend Victoria branch and the eastern mainline have been cancelled due to the restrictions.
The following cancellations and alterations have been confirmed:
- 15:52 Ipswich - Liverpool Street is cancelled
- 16:17 Liverpool Street to Witham is cancelled
- 16:24 Liverpool Street to Southend Victoria is cancelled
- 16:30 Southend Victoria to Liverpool Street is cancelled
- 17:12 Liverpool Street to Witham is cancelled
- 17:32 Liverpool Street to Clacton will start from Colchester (18:30)
- 17:35 Southend Victoria To Liverpool Street is cancelled
- 17:45 Liverpool Street to Southend Victoria is cancelled
- 16:14 Liverpool Street to Clacton stops additionally at Ingatestone (16:42) and Witham (16:56)
- 17:20 Liverpool Street to Braintree stops additionally at Hatfield Peverel (18:03)
- 16:05 Clacton to Liverpool Street stops additionally at Hatfield Peverel (16:50)
