Dance music legend Goldie will take to the stage at Chelmsford's Bassment bar tomorrow (Sunday August 28).

The Timeless EP don, who has won world-wide acclaim since his forays into Drum and Bass in 1994, will make a rare appearance at the intimate 300 capacity venue armed with a record bag brimming with classics.

Organiser Jonathan Smith, of Intense Records, said: "We can't wait.

"It's going to be a showcase of one of the UK's most iconic dance music legends, taking us through a history of some of the most prominent underground music ever made.

"We look forward to seeing you there."

Goldie, real name Clifford Price, also known  for his appearance in Bond classic the World is not Enough, will perform at the Wells Street venue as part of Intense Records' latest installment of the MOJO nightclub series.

Goldie, awarded an MBE by the Prince of Wales, will be supported by master of ceremonies and Metalheadz star MC GQ.

A raft of local talent will also take to the decks.

DJs Hyjack and Cage from Subway DNB, Knuck from Vinyl Rhythms, Mojo residents Cypher and Gibbo, and Steve LP fresh from winning the D&B Arena and Hospital Records DJ competitions are on the bill.

Meanwhile, resident wordsmiths Indica and Nuklear MC from Mayan Audio will be on microphone duties.

In the early eighties, Goldie made his name as a graffiti artist, moving to the US to immerse in New York culture.

On returning to England, he discovered the rave scene and began producing under the name Rufige Kru - after releasing seminal tracks such as Darkrider and Terminator the scene would never be the same again.

In 1994 he launched Metalheadz, a drum and bass nightclub which soon became his hallmark record label.

A string of high profile musical partnerships and tunes followed.

After landing a contract with Pete Tong, he unveiled the critically acclaimed debut album Timeless alongside Rob Playford.

Doors open at 8pm, tickets are available on defttickets.co.uk.

A limitted amount are available on the door for £15.
