A FESTIVAL embracing the tastes of India attracted more than 300 guests and raised money for charities worthy causes.

The Chelmsford Indian Association hosted its first food festival at Boreham Village Hall, where a rich selection of dishes from across the country were sold and celebrated.

With most dishes cooked by association members, numerous stalls sold spicy delights ranging from Assamese fish curry to Bombay vada pav, on Saturday, June 18.

An association spokesman said: “The event was a great success of celebrating Indian culture and cuisine, with many carrying home a taste of India in their takeaways.”

Various Stallholders used the opportunity to fundraise aid for a number of charities - including Little Havens Hospice and Sightsavers.

The spokesman said: “The Chelmsford Indian Association is excited about the feedback received and is looking forward to holding similar events in future on a more ambitious scale.”
