Gardening enthusiasts can enjoy a walk around the beautiful Old Rectory gardens in Boreham this weekend.

The Old Rectory in Boreham is a very firm favourite with visitors and is certainly one not to be missed.

Each year in early summer, Sir Jeffery and Lady Bowman open the garden of their beautiful Elizabethan house. The garden is very popular because there are lots of different areas to explore with always something interesting around each corner.

Visitors always enjoy sitting on the lawn or terrace, with a lovely view down to the River Chelmer, relaxing and having home-made teas.

The 2½-acre garden has ponds, a stream with bridges, a small wildflower meadow and a wood with interesting trees and shrubs.

There are wide herbaceous borders with an emphasis on complementary colours. Don’t miss the stunning wisteria!

Admission: £5, children free. Open Sunday, May 29, 2pm to 5pm.
