I'VE only ever tried Yo! Sushi once before and although I thoroughly enjoyed it I will admit that I was a little bit tentative about what dishes I chose.

So when I was invited back to try out the restaurant's new menu I was delighted to be given the opportunity to try some of the more exciting options.

We were seated in a booth next to the restaurant's signature conveyor belt, which was already brimming with delightful looking dishes, and the lovely waitress went through the drinks menu, recommending beers and cocktails.

I settled on a fizzy and tangy Kiwi-lini cocktail while my boyfriend enjoyed an ale.

If you are quite new to sushi like me, I would definitely recommend talking to your waiter or waitress; our waitress was brilliant and offered us tips on how to combine the raw fish dishes with the sauces on our table, what flavours would go together and what drinks would suit our dishes.

I was impressed to discover the difference submerging a piece of the salmon sashimi in soy sauce and a little wasabi and eating a little piece of ginger before the fish changed the flavour; the fish tasted so much fresher and, although I don't really like spice, the wasabi really gave it a pleasant kick.

One of my favourite new dishes was the Roll Selection: also a new addition to the menu this combined three of the premium sushi rolls on offer including the Ichi-Ni-San; which is scallop, salmon, tuna, cucumber and Caviar, the Ginza; fresh salmon, cream cheese, Caviar, teriyaki and sriracha, and the Spider; tempura soft shell crab mixed with a pickled ginger roll and sweet chilli sauce.

This option, although one of the pricier dishes on the menu, means you get to try a little of each and was quite cost effective.

I couldn't quite bring myself to try the new Tako dish; slithers of soft poached wasabi and nori but I did try the Okonomiyaki; this is a cabbage filled pancake topped with smoked tuna and plenty of other tasty, if unidentifiable, flavours.

I washed it down with one of the Tokyo Mojitos, a Japanese take on the classic cocktail which went down a treat.

Recommended by our waitress was the new Maguro Katsu, a blend of tuna, onion and wasabi, which was nice but nothing special, although my boyfriend absolutely loved the new Dynamite roll; a spicy salmon and avocado nori roll with chilli oil, sriracha mayonaise and spring onion; it was incredibly hot so avoid it if you don't like spice - my boyfriend enjoyed it so much he had two!

As well as the new dishes we also enjoyed some of the old favourites including one of my favourites the chicken katsu curry with rice, the beef tataki with coriander pesto and the edamame beans; delicious with soy sauce.

I was too full to finish my Chocolate Mochi rice ball desert but our waitress found me a takeaway tub so I could finish the squishy chocolate desert on my sofa later!

The new dishes really added to the Yo! Sushi experience but I think the best thing was having a waitress who knew what she was talking about; I'd throughally recommend getting pally as soon as you walk in as her recomendations really made the meal for us.

We will definitely be back.
