THE manager of the Meadows Shopping Centre is flying high after trekking to Machu Picchu and being nominated for a prestigious award.

Sue Patel, who lives in Chelmsford, spent days trekking the Inca Trail through the Peruvian Andes as part of her fundraising challenge for the British Heart Foundation in memory of her father-in-law.

After reaching the 4,200m peak Sue said: “What an amazing place.

“It’s so spectacular, atmospheric and totally incredible; I can’t quite believe I’m here.

“The physical and emotional challenge of trekking and camping at 4,200m was so worth it!”

Its been a busy month for Sue, who also discovered she had been nominated for a Centre Manager of the Year award.

In her nomination she was praised for her fundraising and community engagement activities and initiatives such as Shop for Schools and the Christmas Meadows Presents, which give presents to disadvantaged children.

She will find out if she has won on June 21.
