Chelmsford’s Amateur Boxing Club have presented cheques for £1,000 to Age UK Essex and Lighthouse Pregnancy Crisis after raising money at the club’s annual charity dinner show at Boreham House.

Club president Mick Hull said: "The Club is a non profit making organisation, the money we raised at our Annual Charity Dinner Show at Boreham House was split three ways between our club and the two local charities.

"We subsidise our boxers with their kit, medicals, registration, the upkeep of the gym and much more.

"We are more than happy to support local charities.

"Age UK Essex and Lighthouse Pregnancy Crisis do a wonderful job, everyone at the Club hope our donation helps them continue the great work that they do."

Twelve local boxers will be competing in the club's open boxing show at Marconi Club off Beehive Lane on Saturday, February 12.

Club Trainer Dave Hull said: "The lads and ladies have been training very well and the show at Marconi Club will be great for Chelmsford's Boxing fans to watch their local boxers in action.

"We hope to have local professional Billy Long in attendance at well as councillor John Aldridge who has help the club with community funding along with the Deputy Mayor."
