A MAN suffered serious head injuries after being hit by a car on Essex Yeomanry Way in Chelmsford.
Police received a call to say that a 22-year-old man from Wickford had been seen walking on the carriageway, along the road between the Army and Navy roundabout and Howe Green roundabout.
They arrived at the scene within seven minutes to find the had been in collision with a silver Chevrolet Captiva shortly after 1.30am on Saturday.
The man was taken to Royal London Hospital for treatment to serious head injuries.
The road was closed until shortly before 7am while police carried out initial investigations.
Anyone who saw what happened or who has any other information which could help is asked to call Essex Police on 101.
