Thurrock 2-0 Guernsey
From Ship Lane
FA Trophy preliminary round
THURROCK set up a tie with Chatham Town after they beat Guernsey in the FA Trophy.
A second-half brace from Ross Wall was enough for Mark Stimson’s men against the side from the Channel Islands, although the match was a highly competitive affair.
Guernsey played well in the opening stages, with Ross Allen forcing Rhys Madden into a terrific save with his feet.
Wall, had enjoyed a positive first-half as well and was unlucky not to open the scoring. Two first-half headers from the striker clipped the top of the crossbar but neither found the net.
The deadlock was broken on 56 minutes. Guernsey goalkeeper Leroi Riley got a hand on his effort but couldn’t keep it out.
Wall saw a goal disallowed for offside as the clock ticked down but his run was perfectly time soon after and there was a neat finish to match.
Thurrock: Madden, Morgan, L Clark, Toner, Sutton, J Clark, Christou, Stimson, Gleed, Wall, Cowley
