Chelmsford City Council is proud to have won a national CIPD People Management Award for Best Youth Employment Initiative 2015.

The Awards, delivered by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) in partnership with People Management Magazine, are the most prestigious in the industry.

They recognise outstanding and innovative achievements in people management and development.

The accolade commends the Council's outstanding internship and apprenticeship schemes.

Since 2010, 31 interns and 32 apprentices have been recruited to the scheme, with 60 per cent of interns and 74 per cent of apprentices being retained in other roles after their traineeships ended.

95 per cent of all Chelmsford City Council apprentices have qualified as intermediate apprentices, with a third more qualifying as advanced apprentices.

Chelmsford City Council's Cabinet Member for Corporate Services, Councillor Nicolette Chambers, said: "It's hugely important to support young talent.

"We are proud to have brought talented trainees into our organisation, helping young people to find employment and gain nationally-recognised qualifications at the same time."

All apprenticeships and internships are advertised on the Council's website.
