A man was punched in the head and his wallet stolen during a robbery in Great Baddow.
The 34-year-old was walking along Meadgate Avenue in Great Baddow when a male suspect approached him from behind sometime around 8.45am on Saturday September 26.
He was punched in the head and an unknown object was pressed against the side of his body before his watch and wallet were stolen.
The victim, from Chelmsford, was taken to hospital as a precaution.
He did not suffer any visible injuries, but was shaken by the incident.
Det Sgt Trudi Arnold, of Chelmsford CID, said: "The suspect may have followed the victim from Chelmsford town centre, where he had withdrawn money from Barclays bank in High Street about half an hour before the robbery.
"The victim had walked through The Meadows shopping centre car park, Baddow Road car park and past B&M in Parkway, before walking to Meadgate Avenue.”
The suspect wore black Nike trainers and a grey tracksuit and top.
Anyone with information or who witnesses the assault is asked to call Chelmsford CID on 101.
