THE PREVIEW: East Thurrock hope to continue their impressive recent record in the FA Cup when they travel to Ryman One South outfit Carshalton.
Rocks made the first round last year and moved past Yaxley in the previous round to set up the clash, which they will be favourites to win.
Carshalton sit 15th in their league after a run of three matches without a win, having lost three of their first five home matches.
And with Sam Higgins back in the goals after a spell out with injury and Lewis Smith already notching eight times this term, Rocks will be confident of stretching Carshalton’s recent run.
WHAT HE SAYS: Rocks boss John Coventry said: “I went to watch Carshalton a few weeks ago and saw them concede a last minute goal to lose. They have a few players I believe could cause us some problems and they play on 3G but we are confident.
“We have played them before so know a bit about them but it is a favourable draw on the face of it. You want an easier draw in these rounds and hopefully we can push on and get into the third qualifying round.
FORM GUIDE: LWLDD
TEAM NEWS: Kris Newby and Kye Ruel (injured) and Rickie Hayles (suspended) are out of the tie, although Coventry has added former Concord and Canvey defender Ashley Miller, left, to his squad - a signing he is pleased with.
“We know him well,” he said. “He became available and he will fit into the team well.”
