AFC Hornchurch 0-0 Great Wakering Rovers

GREAT Wakering Rovers bounced back from their FA Cup defeat to secure a valiant point at AFC Hornchurch.
Two seasons ago there were three divisions separating the sides but Rovers put in a fine display against the Urchins to maintain their impressive league form and keep pace at the top of the Ryman One North.
Manager Dan Trenkel had seen his side go down 2-0 in their most disappointing performances of the season to date on Saturday, against lower league opposition, although he said afterwards he knew he would get a response from his team at Hornchurch.
And he wasn’t disappointed, in a match that saw the defences come out on top, with few clear-cut chances for either side.
That said, Rovers could have taken the lead had their finishing been more clinical in the final third. Striker Jay Nash, who is yet to find the form that saw him score more than 20 goals last season, had a chance to put the visitors ahead but he was unable to make meaningful contact from a cross.
