Enfield Town 1-1 East Thurrock United

TOM Wraight netted a fine equaliser for East Thurrock as they came from behind for the second time in three days to secure a point.

Rocks headed to Enfield in need of a good showing, having been disappointing despite claiming a 2-2 draw with Kingstonian on Saturday, but it was Enfield who started well.

Connor Witherspoon was lining up against his former club but it was Darnell Wynter who pounced to give the home side the lead after just eight minutes with a curling effort.

Away manager John Coventry has been critical of his team in the opening weeks of the season, as they struggled to find consistency. However he had hoped last Monday’s win at title hopefuls Hendon had seen his team turn a corner and he will be encouraged at their ability to bounce back.

Both sides exchanged chances after Wynter had netted, although Rocks did look like in attacking areas with prolific striker Sam Higgins struggling with an injury sustained on the opening day.

Lewis Smith has been impressive in recent weeks, having scored four goals to date and he was looking lively in forward areas.

Wraight hit the leveller midway through the second-half. The former Witham Town man was playing in a more defensive position than usual at left-back, but he broke forward and slid beyond Nathan McDonald in goal to hand Rocks a share of the spoils.
