BOWERS & Pitsea returned to winning ways with a comfortable 2-0 with over London Bari.

Bowers were one of the surprise casualties last weekend, as they were beaten by Ilford in the FA Cup, but Rob Small demanded a response and got one against Bari.

Goals from Rob Whitnell and Frank Everett were enough at the Len Salmon stadium, as Bowers continued their 100 per cent record in this season’s Essex Senior League.

It was a positive result for Hullbridge Sports as well, as they beat Greenhouse London to preserve their good start to the campaign.

Sports remain unbeaten in league and cup this year, but could have fallen behind in this one as Greenhouse hit the post in the opening exchanges.

But the opening goal was a stroke of inspiration from Matt Brinklow, who picked up the ball, jinked inside and sent a delightful dipping shot over the goalkeeper and into the corner.

Charlie Cox hit the post for Sports into the second-half, somehow missing the rebound although his blushes were spared when Brinklow grabbed his second of the afternoon with a fine effort.

Southend Manor came from behind to draw with Takeley elsewhere in the division.

Despite falling behind, Stuart Paton levelled things up just before half-time to ensure a share of the spoils.

Basildon United played out an exciting 4-4 draw with Laindon Orient in a friendly fixture.
