THE GIVE 10 Pints For Ashley campaign has reached international status as Ashley’s relatives around the world give blood in his name.

In Australia, Ashley’s cousin, Serena Howard, her husband Jarrod and best friend Emma Dwyer have just donated blood and plasma in honour of the murdered teenager.

Serena, 30, of Launceston, Tasmania, said: “I have always been too scared to donate blood.

“But when Trevor told us about the Give 10 Pints For Ashley campaign, I decided instantly it was something I needed to do.

“Being so far away I couldn’t come go to England for the funeral, so my first blood donation provided me the opportunity to say goodbye, in my own way.

“Ashley was an amazing young man, and we miss him so much.

“His memory will live on forever, in his family, in those that start donating and those that hear his story. It’s my small way of honouring him.”

Jarrod said: "I started donating as a spur of the moment decision one day walking past the donation centre.

"I found out that I have the rarest blood type, AB- and just kept going back as often as I could.

"A few years ago I got sick for a while and my hours at work changed so I couldn't make it in to donate and then it became one of those things you just keep putting off.

"But #GiveTenPintsForAshley has motivated me to go in again and I have just started to give Plasma donations instead of whole blood since it is in some cases more useful and you can do it more often."

Emma added: "Ash seemed like a bright young man who's life was taken away way to soon.

"Serena told me about #GiveTenPintsForAshley and I was more than happy to help the lives you can save with donating blood is amazing.

"And after donating the overwhelming feeling that you can help others is an incredible feeling."
