EASTENDERS actress Kellie Bright will be the latest soap actress waltzing on to Strictly Come Dancing.

The 39-year-old actress, from Great Wakering, who is best known for playing Linda Carter alongside Danny Dyer in the BBC1 soap, will show off her skills on the dancefloor.

Kellie is looking forward ton the challenge. In a break fromfilming for the soap, she said: “There are two main reasons I want to take part in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing. The first is I will be turning 40 next year, I think it is the perfect time for a new, exciting challenge.

“The second reason is because if I said ‘no’ Linda Carter would never forgive me.”

Despite winning awards for her portrayal of Queen Vic landlady Linda in EastEnders, Kellie, whose previous roles included children’s television series T-Bag and sitcom the Upper Hand, is considered an outsider by bookmakers.

Other contestants for this year’s series that have already been announced include TV chef Ainsley Harriot and presenter Jeremy Vine.

Vine leads the betting with Coral offering odds of 25-1, with Harriott at 40-1 and Bright at 50- 1.

Basildon EastEnders actress Kara Tointon won the show in 2010.
