A CHARITY which supports people with vision problems is holding a fun day to help others understand what sight loss is like.

Support4Sight has launched a new project to support the families of children with sight loss and will be promoting its services at the fun day, which will be held on Friday, July 31, at Broomfield Village Hall, Main Road, Chelmsford.

More than 100 blind and partially-sighted children are listed on the Young Person’s Sight Impaired Register, yet it is estimated at least four times that number of children have sight loss in Essex.

Paul Atkins, the charity’s resource centre and volunteer manager, said: “The aim of the fun day is to highlight that you can still get involved in sports, games and activities and make new friends who know what sight loss is like.

“We welcome everybody to join us on the day to take par t in the many fun activities and to find out about the services that Support4Sight can offer.”

Activities will include blind tennis, using accessible computer games and navigating obstacle courses using vibrating long canes.

The event opens at 10am.
