A man has been arrested and charged with possession of a knife in a public place following an incident in Chelmsford.
Officers were called to Wells Street at about 10.50pm on Friday, July 24, following reports that a man had been seen with a knife.
Following enquiries at the scene a 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon.
He was taken to Chelmsford police station and interviewed before being charged with possession of a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place.
Graeme Wharton, 41, of Patching Hall Lane, in Chelmsford, has been bailed to appear before Chelmsford Magistrates Court on Monday, August 24.
