A DRIVER was cut free from her car after it crashed into a ditch in West Hanningfield.

Police, ambulance and fire crews were called to the one-vehicle accident in Middlemead Road at about 1.45pm today.

It took two-and-a-half hours for firefighters using cutting equipment to free the woman.

The woman, in her 20s, was given pain relief by paramedics while emergency services worked to release her.

She was then taken to Broomfield Hospital by ambulance suffering a possible hip injury.
