Four charities chosen by Anglia Ruskin University students have received a share of £8,000 generated by responses to satisfaction surveys.

The J’s Hospice in Chelmsford, Cambridge Rape Crisis, Médecins Sans Frontières and Peterborough and Fenland MIND all received a share of the pot, which was generated by a pledge by Anglia Ruskin to donate £2 for every survey completed by students.

Each year, students are encouraged to complete the National Student Satisfaction Survey, the Student Experience Survey, the Postgraduate Research Experience Survey and the Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey.

This year it was decided that, rather than offer incentives such as the opportunity to win an iPad by filling in the questionnaires, students would select their charities during Freshers’ Week and Anglia Ruskin would donate money to those charities for each survey completed.

Julie Walkling, Director of Student Services at Anglia Ruskin, said: “It was great to meet representatives of four fantastic charities and present them with donations that will provide help to thousands of people in Essex and Cambridgeshire.

“We’ve very proud that our students chose to support charities and benefit others rather than themselves via prize draws or other incentives.

"All Anglia Ruskin campuses are focal points in their communities and our students continue to make a huge contribution to those areas.”
