A Chelmsford painter and instructor is delighting passengers travelling with a cruise company by offering art classes on board.

Caroline Stevens teamed up with Tilbury-based cruise line company, Cruise and Maritime Voyages (CMV), to become the most recent newcomer to their complimentary Additions programme which delivers onboard speakers, entertainers and craft specialists during days spent at sea.

Having been inspired by TV painter, Bob Ross, Caroline began painting in 2003, and soon found herself purchasing paints and brushes and enrolling in one of his courses – she was amazed at the picture she produced from just one lesson!

She certainly had a flare for painting and it wasn’t too long before she decided it was time for a career change and trained to become an instructor herself.

Her days are now filled with classes of budding artists.

Caroline joined CMV’s Azores in July on her Iceland and Northern Isles cruise and tutored a total of four classes of up to ten passengers with some resounding results.

One of her students, Denise Terry, who was keen to continue painting with Caroline, wrote:“I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed your painting classes.

"You explained everything so clearly, and the results were, to me, astounding!”
