CHELMSFORD is gearing up for its third Premier Inn hotel, following a £7.2million investment.

The chain already has hotels in Colchester Road, Springfield, and Main Road, Boreham, on the outskirts of the city, but the new one is in the centre.

It is in Victoria Road, just a short distance from the mainline train station.

Up to 38 jobs are expected to be generated after the Chelmsford City Centre hotel opens to the public on Monday, August 3.

Premier Inn manager Niall Hyslop, said: “We are delighted to be opening aa new hotel in the heart of Chelmsford’s city centre.

“With V festival in August, this is a great time to be opening the new hotel as music lovers flock to Chelmsford.

“With two hotels on the outskirts, we thought it would be great to have one situated right in the city centre, making it easily accessible to everything that Chelmsford has to offer.”

Each of the 99 new bedrooms will cater for up to two adults and two children and will include en suite bathrooms and kingsize beds.

Mr Hyslop added: “We will be offering brand new, modern accommodation with our fantastic new beds at an affordable price, which we hope will encourage visitors to the city and help bring tourist and retail trade into the area.

“Our guests will experience the high standards you can expect of every Premier Inn in a fantastic location with a wide choice of shops, restaurants and cultural events within easy walking distance.”

Rooms are available from the hotel’s opening on August 3, priced from £56 per night.
