England Rugby star Johnny Wilkinson treated The Boswell School pupils to a Sky Sports Living for Sport masterclass in rugby union.

A selected group of 20 students, aged 11-15, from the school attended an action-packed Sky Academy experience day which included learning key rugby skills from the England rugby hero.

The school won a Sky Academy prize draw after being entered for their commitment and participation in the Sky Sports Living for Sport initiative.

Jonny visited the Sky Academy Careers Lab, where he inspired a group of 16-to-19 year olds by sharing his career journey, helping them to understand key skills and consider new opportunities.

He also surprised students attending a Sky Academy Skills Studios session, where they used the latest broadcast technology to create their own TV report on a chosen subject they are studying in class.

Sky Academy Ambassador Jonny Wilkinson said: “I hope that sharing my personal journey with the students from Sky Academy will help to inspire them and show that anything is possible with passion, hard work and dedication.

"When we got out on the pitch for the Sky Sports Living for Sport masterclass, I was trying to instil confidence in the students and develop their leadership skills, which they can apply off the pitch as well as on it.”

Sky Sports Living for Sport is a free initiative open to all secondary schools across the UK and Ireland which uses sports stars and the skills learnt through sport to build life skills in young people.

It is part of Sky Academy, a set of initiatives using the power of TV, creativity and sport to help one million young people in the UK and Ireland build practical skills and experience to unlock their potential.

The initiative has been running in partnership with the Youth Sport Trust since 2003 and this academic year alone, more than 1,500 UK and Irish secondary schools have taken part.
