LEIGH on Sea captain Dean Waller says his side will be on the end of another heavy defeat unless they pull out their A-game again table-toppers Belhus.

Leigh were walloped by Harlow Town last weekend, losing by 96 runs after they collaposed to a paltry 125 all out with what was their lowest batting total of the season so far.

This weekend, Belhus are the visitors to Southchurch Park as they look to continue what has been a very positive start to the campaign.

They are joint top with Fives & Heronians although Waller says Leigh have designs on winning this weekend, with 20 points potentially enough to lift them into the top two.

“It is the perfect game for us to get back on form,” he said. “The team know it didn’t produce with the bat last week and we have to put that right now.

“We go again against Belhus and we have to improve or we will be on the end of another pasting. They are a good batting side but we are good with the bat when we get going.

“The pitch hindered us a bit last week but I think we are more than capable of getting 20 or 25 points.”

Billericay host Ardleigh Green, after they beat Wickford to make it three wins out of four in the division.

Dave Houghton scored a superb century last Saturday to help them beat their borough rivals and he is targeting more points on the board against the side who are propping up the division.

Houghton says a win is crucial if Billericay want to finish in the top two.

“We have a full strength side this week,” said the New Zealander. “And with a few blokes returning from university and injury there is some healthy competition for places in the team.

“We want to carry on the momentum we’ve gained from last week’s important result so it’s important we win tomorrow to avoid a feeling of one step forward, two steps back.

“Having only lost one match so far we are reasonably pleased however we haven’t played near our potential yet so hopefully this week we can perform well in all three disciplines.”

Wickford visit Gidea Park & Romford as they look to return to winning ways.

Wickford are only a point off the top two ahead of the encounter.

Stanford le Hope’s search for their first win of the season continues against Fives & Heronians.

Stanford are the only side yet to win this year, following their promotion from division three.

But Fives have won three of their four games and have already acrued 53 more points than their opponents.

Horndon on the Hill host Harlow Town in a clash of two sises in the middle of the standings, although a win for Horndon could see them climb into the top two.
