A TEENAGER who lost her father when she was six-years-old will celebrate her 16th birthday by doing a skydive in aid of the bereavement charity which supported her family.

Olivia Tarn was only young when her father passed away but remembers how the charity Winston’s Wish supported her when she needed it most.

So when she turns 16, Olivia, who attends Woodham Academy in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, plans to give something back to the children’s bereavement charity.

On Saturday, May 23 the daredevil teen will complete a skydive and she hopes to seek as much sponsorship as possible.

The money raised will be divided between Winston’s Wish and Young Minds, a children’s and young people’s wellbeing and mental health charity.

Olivia said: “I wanted to raise money for the charities as they are close to my heart. I am excited about the skydive but petrified too.”

Christine Forsyth, headteacher at Woodham Academy, said: “It is a fantastic thing to do but it doesn’t surprise me at all because Olivia is one of the most thoughtful, caring and sensitive individuals you could ever have the pleasure to meet.”
