A pub customer in Chelmsford was left with a broken eye socket, broken cheek bone and two black eyes when he was attacked after an argument.

The victim, a 25-year-old man, was enjoying a night out at the Thomas Mildmay pub, in Springfield Road, when the attack took place at about 11.30pm on Wednesday, May 13.

An argument broke out between the victim and another man inside the pub.

After they were told to leave by pub staff, the argument continued outside and the victim was assaulted.

He was left with injuries including a broken left eye socket, a broken cheek bone and two black eyes.

Investigating officer Det Con Toby Larner of Chelmsford CID said: "The pub would have been fairly busy at the time so I am hopeful that other drinkers may have either seen this incident or be able to help in identifying the suspect involved."

The suspect is described as a stocky man aged 20-30 and he was wearing either a brown or red jumper.
