Train services passing through Stratford station are subject to long delays after a person was hit by a train.
Rail operator Greater Anglia first reported the incident shortly after 9.30am.
Passengers are being warned to expect disruption to journeys until about 2pm.
Services between Liverpool Street and Southend Victoria, Colchester, Braintree and Clacton are all subject to cancellations.
All lines passing through Stratford were initially closed, but reopened at about 10.30am.
It is the second such incident in two days - a man died after he was hit by a train at Harold Wood station yesterday.
UPDATE 12.30PM: A British Transport Police spokesman said: “We were called to Stratford station at 9.32am after a report that a person had been struck by a train.
“BTP officers attended the station alongside colleagues from London Ambulance Service. A man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Officers are currently working to identify the man and inform his family.
“The incident is currently not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
“The line was handed back to Network Rail at 10.19am.”
