Five emergency care technicians have taken huge strides towards becoming registered paramedics.

Chad Fielder, Rob Cawston, Jonny Hyland, Karen Usher and Hayley Reinhart were all part of the eight-week ‘Module 7’ training course, which ended in Chelmsford on April 24.

The course taught skills in advanced life support, intubation and cannulation, drug and fluid therapy as well as in-depth patient assessment.

Upon completion of a four-week hospital placement and case study, the EMTs will achieve a Certificate in Emergency Medical Care before finally being registered as paramedics with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

The Trust’s Training and Education Manager John Hewitt said: “All the students worked extremely hard during the course to gain a good standard of competence. Once they successfully complete the certificate they can register with the HCPC and then start practising as paramedics.”

EEAST Chief Executive Anthony Marsh added: “It is fantastic to see our staff taking their clinical skills to the next level.

"I wholeheartedly congratulate each member of this group on their achievement.”
