Chelmsford City Council’s ‘woMEn TIME’ programme is all about providing opportunities for women to be more active or try a new sport in a friendly, non-competitive environment.

This summer, there are plenty of activities for Chelmsford ladies who like to chat, laugh, be active and have fun:

  • Get Back Into – Rounders The Spring Chicks Rounders Club will be running a series of social, outdoor drop-in rounders sessions throughout the summer.

Sessions focus on batting, throwing and catching, general rules and ball skills.

You can come along to as many or as few of the sessions as you like, and feel free to bring a friend! Each session includes a free cup of tea or coffee afterwards – a chance for a natter with the girls.

Where: Coronation Park, Timsons Lane, Chelmsford, CM2 6AG When: every Thursday, 10am How much: from £2.00 per session.

  • Get back Into – Netball. This session is aimed at women, aged 16 years and older, who have stopped playing and competing in netball for a variety of reasons.

All sessions are delivered by qualified coaches and emphasise fun and friendliness.

The sessions are a great way to keep fit and, as netball is a team game, there is always a real social element.

If you are keen to play, want to meet new people and have no netballing skills in particular, we want you!

Similarly, if you know all the positions, want to improve your technique and fancy the chance to compete, we still want you!

Netball is fun and for everyone! So why not grab the girls and join in? Just remember your trainers.

Where: Chelmer Park, Beehive Lane, Chelmsford, CM2 8RL.

When: New courses start on Tuesday 2 June.

How much: £28.00 for the whole course.

  • Get Back Into – Tennis Whether you just want to hit the ball, or improve existing skills with expert advice from our tennis coach, these sessions are for you.

These sessions give women a great way to keep fit and socialise. Tennis sessions are pay-as-you-go, fun and friendly.

Where: The Marconi Club, Beehive Lane, Chelmsford CM2 9FH When: every Tuesday, 9.30am How much: £2.00 per session.

  • Women’s Walks These walks are led by trained leaders and have a back marker at the rear of the group.

This means you are free to walk at your own pace without fear of being left behind. The routes are all circular, so you start and finish in the same place.

After the walk, we welcome you to stay for refreshments and socialising.

This may be in a café, sports pavilion or a public house, where most walks commence from.

Where: Springfield Parish Council, Saint Augustine’s Way, Springfield, Chelmsford CM1 6GX When: every Wednesday from 9.30am

How much: FREE Many walks take place in and around Chelmsford as part of the Heart and Sole Health Walks Scheme.
