CONFERENCE SOUTH: Goalscoring midfielder Taylor Miles says playing with ‘no fear’ has given Concord Rangers the belief they can secure a play-off spot this season.

Miles, 19, has played a hugely important role for the Beach Boys after he broke into the team at the start of the year. The diminutive midfielder has scored six goals in his last nine outings, with those strikes worth 10 points alone.

And, after a loan spell at Concord last season, the former West Ham United man says he has thoroughly enjoyed making his mark this time around.

“I have been really pleased with what I have done personally,” he said. “I knew I would get a chance when I couldn’t get into the team and now I have I am making the most of it.

“I have had to adapt my game as I used to be a deeper lying midfield player but Woody (Alex Woodyard) is so good in that role. The goals have come recently and I am just pleased the efforts I put in on the training ground are paying off.

“This is a team of grafters and we don’t give up which anyone who has seen us this season will tell you.”

Miles is preparing for games against Hayes & Yeading and Farnborough to end the campaign, with Concord sitting four points off the final play-off position with two games remaining.

And the midfielder is hoping he can continue to impress, having long been touted for a return to professional football by manager Danny Cowley.

And the teenager says he would love to make that step back up.

“We all want to be professional players,” he said. “But that said I am enjoying my football here and would be happy to stay as well. I am playing with no fear and so are the team.”

Assistant manager Nicky Cowley says Concord have a fully fit squad for tomorrow’s match against Hayes & Yeading, their final home game of the season, as they bid to turn “an excellent season into an outstanding season.”
