A HOME-GROWN band will return to their roots this summer by taking over the Treehouse Stage at Brownstock Festival.

Stealing Signs, a four-piece band formed in South Woodham Ferrers, is planning to have a ‘non-stop’ party during this year’s weekend of music as they host what promises to be a energetic three-hour take-over of the unique stage at the Stow Maries Festival.

The band, made up of vocalists and guitarists Nick Acton, 26, and George Wood, 22, drummer Will Daly, 25, and bass guitarist Steve Wheate, 26, was formed in near-by South Woodham Ferrers, making this the perfect opportunity for their legions of fans to enjoy another set close to home.

Nick Acton, who now lives in Chelmsford but grew up in the town, is thrilled to be able to bring something a little bit special to the festival, which recently announced a line-up including Basement Jaxx, Example, The Darkness and The Hoosiers.

He said: “We’ve had an on-going relationship with Brownstock and have played it from the time it was just a very small family party but it’s getting bigger and bigger and they have taken us along for the ride.

“Every year they allow us to do something a bit different and this year we will be taking over the Treehouse Stage for three hours on the Saturday.

“We always try to do something special, as it’s the only opportunity we get these days to play back near our home town.

“The set is going to be a bit of a mix, we will probably play a few old favourites as there should be a nice home crowd there but we have been working with our new guitarist, George, so will be playing new things too.

“We always try to be as energetic as possible, do something a bit special, and get people dancing so it should be great fun.

“We will be doing all sorts of crazy things during the Stealing Signs takeover and hope it will be a non-stop party before we play – although we hope that will continue during the set!”

Weekend tickets for the festival, which will be held at Morris Farm, Stow Maries, from July 10 – 12, are on sale now, priced at £79 from Brownstock.co.uk
