Southend Manor claimed a creditable draw with mid-table Takeley as they came from behind at Southchurch Park.

Manor were behind after only 11 minutes but substitute Rhys Fatt grabbed the leveler on 66 minutes to ensure Wayne Seal’s men took home a share of the points.

BOWERS & Pitsea’s title ambitions could well be over after they drew a surprising blank at bottom-of-the-table Sporting Bengal United.

Bowers have been on a remarkable run recently, winning 22 of their last 24 matches to move themselves from mid-table obscurity into genuine title contenders, but it seems Haringey are now out of reach.

Rob Small’s side are 14 points off top spot with two games in hand over Borough.

Elsewhere, Hullbridge Sports are on for a record-breaking season after beating rivals Basildon United to take a firmer grip on fourth-place.

Having never finished above seventh, Sports now have three games in hand on the side below them.

Reece Brandon’s 82nd minute goal was enough for Mark Bliss’ side, although there was a touch on controversy about the goal.

Charlie Little went down in front of the dug-out with a free-kick awarded to the away side’s consternation.

From the kick, Luke Hornsley saw his effort tipped brilliantly onto the crossbar by Russell Harley only for Brandon to tap home the rebound.

Sports had taken the lead midway through the first-half, as Rory Clark let fly with a howitzer that Harley couldn’t keep out in the home goal.

Sports were the better side in the first half but they were pegged back moments after the interval.

The shot came in and it fizzed past the unsighted Bobby Mason in the home goal.

But Brandon had the last laugh, as Sports close in on fourth with four games to go.
