RYMAN ONE NORTH: Great Wakering Rovers goalkeeper Adam Seal says trust and faith are the reasons he has enjoyed such a successful first full season in the Ryman One North.

The 29-year-old stopper has won a host of admirers for his displays this season, winning a reputation as one of the division’s finest custodians.

And he wants to help Rovers finish the season well after taking only one point from the last nine on offer against sides below them in the standings.

Rovers visit Redbridge tomorrow, another side at the foot of the table, knowing a win would make it mathematically impossible for them to be relegated.

And Seal says Rovers must aim to finish the season on a high.

“It was a disappointing performance and result against Burnham Ramblers,” he said, after last weekend’s 1-0 defeat. “It looked as though we were going through the motions a bit and that is not good enough.

“We don’t want it to be a case of us thinking about next season already. We need to build on the excellent season we have had and make sure we don’t finish with a whimper. You are only as good as your last game and our last two games have been poor.

“We can still catch the sides above us and that is our aim.”

Despite defeats against Burnham and Cray Wanderers, Seal has been praised on numerous occasions for his performances between the posts.

He has kept seven clean sheets so far this term, but has kept opponents at bay with superb displays in his first full season at Ryman One North level.

And he says he has been pleased with his own development, having joined Rovers at the start of the 2013/14 season from Essex Senior League outfit Southend Manor.

“I have been very pleased,” he said. “I have to say thank you to Trenks (Dan Trenkel) for giving me the opportunity to play at this level as I have given it a go before and it hasn’t worked out. A lot of managers press the panic button when things don’t work but he has stuck by me.

“But this season has been different and playing with such a great group of lads has been important. That was the case at Manor and I enjoy every minute of it here.”
