ANDY DORMAN hopes St Mirren give a far better account of themselves tomorrow after a week to reflect on their 7-0 hammering at Celtic.

The Paisley club have an opportunity to gain revenge on Gordon Strachan's side a week after they were slaughtered by the SPL champions in the league.

Dorman, of course, would love more than to now knock the Parkhead club out of the Homecoming Scottish Cup tomorrow afternoon as both clubs battle it out for a semi-final slot.

He said: "That sort of scoreline has never happened to me before, not even in kids' football.

"What did I learn? That Celtic and Rangers really punish you if you let them.

"It was the first time I had played at Celtic Park. This game will be at our ground and we have to make sure Celtic know they are in a game this time."

Saints were obviously not helped by the fact they were reduced to 10 men as Jack Ross was sent packing just prior to Celtic taking a two-goal lead from the penalty spot.

On Tuesday night Saints were also denied all three points at home to Aberdeen as they allowed the visitors to pull level in injury time.

Dorman, however, says the St Mirren players have their heads up and are looking forward to welcoming Celtic to their newly-built stadium for the first time.

"Hopefully it will be a good, competitive game," he said. "I'm sure it will be a totally different game to the one last weekend."

If Saints manage to get their game plan into operation, it would see Dorman making his perfectly timed runs into the penalty area and adding to his tally of seven goals for the current season.

Saints are already bracing themselves for offers for the attacking midfielder in the summer.

Dorman, though, just wants to continue improving as a player.

He added: "You want to play at the best level. I wouldn't say I'm using St Mirren as a stepping stone. St Mirren are improving all the time and, hopefully, so am I. You never stop learning."
