THURROCK slipped four points off the play-offs after they drew 1-1 with Ware.

Despite dropping two points in the vital encounter, it could have been worse for Mark Stimson’s men who were losing until L’Heureux Menga popped up to equaliser in the final stages.

Windy conditions made it tough for both teams but Ware adapted better in the opening minutes and took an early lead.

A cross found the run of Murat Karagul and he tapped past Rhys Madden.

Fleet responded with Rob Clark sending an effort goalwards after some neat build-up play only for the ball to be deflected away for a corner. From the resulting kick Remi Sutton’s long range strike was pushed away well by the acrobatic Ware goalkeeper Tom Coulton.

The keeper denied Steve Carvell before the interval but it was still 1-0 at the break.

Thurrock were given a boost in the second-half as Alaa Oudji was shown a second yellow card for a foul on substitute Leslie Thompson.

Fleet cranked up the heat, with Charlie Stimson heading over and Thompson blocked by Coulton.

Ross Wall saw an effort chalked off for offside but in the end the goal did come.

Menga held off the challenge and turned to score past an ailing Coulton.
