Bowers & Pitsea 2-1 Haringey Borough

BOWERS & Pitsea defeated title favourites Haringey Borough to give their title hopes a shot in the arm.
Rob Small's team came into the match knowing nothing less than victory would be good enough in their busy end of season run-in.
But they got off to the worst possible start against Borough. A mistake from goalkeeper Dylan Skinner saw him prevent a corner from a back pass but only direct the ball into the path of Dean Fenton who swept home.
The stopper made up for the error with a fine save soon after before Bowers hit back with several deflected efforts which dropped to safety.
Skinner was keeping Bowers in it at the break, with the score remaining 1-0 to the visitors.
Bowers had an effort cleared off the line before they netted their equaliser. VInny Durrant scored it with a 25-yard effort that flew past the keeper.
Haringey had a man sent off and that proved to be a turning point.
Bowers piled on the pressure and broke Borough's resistance in the final few minutes when Rob Whitnell finished well from inside the penalty area.
The win was Bowers' 17th in 19 matches and moves them 15 points off Haringey with three games in hand.
