Hospital Radio Chelmsford is celebrating as five of their presenters are included in the nominations for this year's National Hospital Radio Awards.

The station has multiple nominations in different categories and staff are looking forward to the awards ceremony, which is being held in Newcastle on Saturday.

The nominations are:

  • Best Male Presenter and Best Specialist Music Programme: Alan Sword - Great American Country
  • Best Newcomer: Rebecca Braybrook - Monday at Midday and Wednesday VIP Requests
  • Best Programme with Multiple Presenters: Paul Evans and Pete Oddie - Two Little Dickie Birds
  • Best Female Presenter: Asha Jhummu

Hospital Radio Chelmsford celebrated its 50th year of broadcasting to Mid-Essex Hospital patients last year, so this event is a hopeful year, with program content from the past 12 months included in the presenters' nomination entries.

Paul Morrish, station manager, said: "This an incredible achievement for the presenter’s to be short listed from hundreds of entries from 209 individual broadcasting stations based across the UK.

"I wish them all luck and congratulate them on their achievement so far."
