A MAN was airlifted to hospital after he was knocked down by a car in Chelmsford this morning.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the serious collision which happened just after 8am this morning, Thursday, March 5, at the junction of Springfield Road and Pump Lane, and involved a male pedestrian and a silver Vauxhall Corsa.
The road was closed while paramedics attended to the casualty, who was air lifted to the Royal London Hospital and is in a critical condition. It reopened at 11.30am.
The occupants of the vehicle were left shaken but uninjured.
