Burglars stole jewellery and money totalling thousands of pounds from a house in Goldlay Avenue, Chelmsford.
The suspects entered the property via a rear patio door some time between 6.55am and 6.15pm on Thursday, February 12.
A safe containing a four figure sum of cash was taken, along with a quantity of jewellery and a bottle of Estee Lauder perfume.
PC Dan Smith said: "The safe was heavy so the suspects may have left in a vehicle parked nearby.
"It is a relatively busy road, so I would be interested to hear from anyone who was in the area and saw anyone acting suspiciously, or saw a suspicious vehicle.”
