Shoppers helped to raise nearly £400 by giving a donation to hang a wish on a special 'Wishmas' tree in the Meadows in Chelmsford.

The Wishmas Tree was in the main mall area of the shopping centre across the festive season from December 6 to 24.

Shoppers wrote their Christmas wish on a gift tag for secret elves to tie onto the tree to create an enchanted Christmas attraction full of colours, ribbons, lights, lanterns and most of all…magical wishes.

In return for having their tag hung on the tree, shoppers were given the opportunity to make a charitable donation (however large or small) and in total a fantastic £397.72 was raised for Make A Wish UK.

The charity focuses on granting magical wishes to children and young people with life-threatening conditions.

Sue Patel, General Manager at the Meadows Shopping Centre, said: ‘We are delighted with the funds that were raised for such a fantastic charity over Christmas.

"We would like to thank all of our generous shoppers and hope that the money raised can go towards helping the charity continue the great work they do across the local area."
